A bespoke acceleration tool for nonprofits.

labF3S is a capacitation tool that helps NPOs strengthen their organizational, programmatic, and economic development, tempered to the needs of each organization.

After two devastating hurricanes, multiple earthquakes, and a global pandemic that paralyzed most essential services and the economy, community-based organizations and NPOs proved to be the heart and muscle of most short to long-term recovery efforts. In light of these emergencies, the opening floodgates of funding made available to the third sector laid bare operational roadblocks preventing NPOs from efficiently accessing, competing for, and managing external funding.

Our goal was to design and quickly deploy bespoke acceleration tools to strengthen the organizational, programmatic, and economic development of Puerto Rico and USVI third sector organizations. These materialized as iterative capacitation and technical assistance programs aiding participants in their efforts to achieve 501c3 (IRS) and 1101(Hacienda) exempt status, adopt competitive program development frameworks, and upskill leaders in federal grant-writing, grants management, and social enterprise models / organizational sustainability.

I researched and implemented participant intake frameworks and process automatizations that helped the foundation test, scale, and deliver programs quickly and iteratively, managing the development, deployment, and evaluation of four cohorts, and providing organizational strengthening tools to 90+ organizations. I also led internal and external support teams and partner resources, including 300+ hours of CPA and legal services, 80+ hours of live webinars, and a group of 15+ instructors, subject matter experts, and program partners, including EDA  (Economic Development Administration), Grantstation.com, the Grant Advantage, and University of Puerto Rico Economic Development Centre.

My project management and leadership efforts resulted in a 90% participant retention rate and 60% KPI achievement rate, including helping NGOs raise $600,000k+ in philanthropic, state, and federal funding in 2021.

I’m currently leading the program’s transition into evergreen / “on-demand” structures and CRM optimization for scalable impact tracking.

A pandemic response program for creative industry workers in Puerto Rico.

Gener8tor x MECA Emergency Response Program for Artists, Musicians, Designers and Creatives in Puerto Rico

A week-long online “Bootcamp” capacitation and technical assistance program designed to help creative industry professionals navigate the global pandemic’s impact on their businesses, creative practice, and mental health.

In the wake of a global pandemic disproportionally affecting cultural workers and self-employed creatives, a swift response to help this industry sector navigate aid, resources, and resiliency tools became an urgent and palpable need.

In close partnership with Gener8tor -and following their iterative design- we launched the “Emergency Response Program for Artists, Musicians, Designers and Creatives in Puerto Rico” in April 2020, offering lunch hour information sessions, panels Q&As, one on one consults, and artist studio visits.

As a board member of the MECA International Art Fair, I collaborated to the program research, design, booking, and management of subject matter experts and community outreach alongside Gener8tor & partner teams.

The program reached 600+ creative professionals in Puerto Rico.

An international contemporary art fair, for and from the Caribbean.

MECA International Art Fair

MECA International Art Fair 17’ 18’ 19’

Mercado Caribeño L3C is a social & cultural enterprise devoted to the international promotion of the Caribbean art markets through three main projects: MECA International Art Fair, MECA Art Talks & the publication MECA Local.

While PUERTO RICO might have more collectors per artist than any other nation in the region, many tend towards investment paintings sold by New York galleries rather than work produced by artists and galleries cultivating the Puerto Rican scene.

Curator at large, Latin American Art, Guggenheim Museum, New York
Author, Art Cities of the Future (Phaidon Press 2013®)

In 2017, MECA (Mercado Caribeño L3C) was born as a social benefit corporation to amplify Puerto Rico and the Caribbean’s contemporary art ecosystem & creative capital.

More than an art fair, MECA amplifies Caribbean culture by developing real platforms that connect artists, creative entrepreneurs, and culture consumers with local and international marketplaces, fostering intersectional economic & cultural development.

As a board member and projects leader in charge of government compliance, brand strategies, and finance; I contributed to the launch and iterative scaling up of Mercado Caribeño L3C’s projects, including three iterations of its International Art fair, bespoke satellite arts programming, social equity projects, and educational events, as well as the marketing and distribution of MECA’s guide publication: LOCAL, featuring 300 meticulously curated businesses operating in San Juan.

In its three consecutive editions (2017-2019), Meca International Art Fair united 100+ art galleries, independent artist projects, curators, and artists to showcase 1,000+ artworks, attracting 20k+ art collectors, professionals, and enthusiasts looking to discover, discuss and patron contemporary art practices from the Caribbean & global south.

A 98’ ft long canvas for Boston’s Seaport.

Frank Stella "Damascus Gate (stretch variation I)"

Large-scale Frank Stella mural reproduction commissioned to Justkids LLC by WS development and SEAPORT® in collaboration with Marianne Boesky Gallery.

WS Development & Boston’s Seaport district (the largest single real estate project in Boston's history) entrusted Justkids.art with the monumental task of producing a large-scale public art adaptation of Frank Stella’s Damascus Gate (Stretch Variation I), a seminal piece the artist now gifts to his hometown of Massachusetts.

The project required extensive research, planning, and careful coordination of time-sensitive tasks with cross-functional teams. As weather and logistical complications threatened to delay production and drain our project budget, as lead project manager, I implemented a swift overhaul of production schedules, resources, and stakeholder management/influencing to safeguard the production feasibility and team’s safety .

The resulting public art piece was successfully delivered on time (1-week production) and on budget as well as its accompanying media assets and documentation. The public art piece remains visible on the façade of One Seaport (60 Seaport Boulevard, Boston, MA) and has become a cultural landmark of the Seaport neighborhood.

A no-fuss artist website.

Website for international artist / illustration duo bicicletasemfreio.com

Website built to showcase artist’s ouvre, collect leads and foster collaboration.

As the Brazilian artist duo Bicicleta Sem Freio widened their international reach, the need for a new website centering their international work became a palpable priority.

As Justkids.art’s lead Project Manager (Bicicleta Sem Freio’s agency for international representation), I collaborated in the quick development and management of the research, design and launch of a functional website showcasing 10+ years of the artists’s work.

The resulting website highlights the versatile yet interconnected nature of the artist’s work and centers the optimization of subscriptions and lead generation towards a singular intake system that brought visibility and drastically reduced the agency’s work.
